A mid-2000s model Type III Ford ambulance with a box style rear. The ambulance started out white with bright yellows, oranges and blues to help it be more visible screaming down the road. The only problem there is that worked well when the world hadn't gone to shit but it doesn't work at all when you needed to try and hide your vehicle off the beaten path on occasion.
To that end the vehicle has been rattle canned flat black, a simple color that will help to hide the vehicle when needed. It is one of two ambulances that have been converted for scouting and supply missions further out beyond the wire, into zombie territory. It takes advantage of the fact that ambulances all come equipped with electrical outlets, powering a wide variety of devices. The front of the vehicle has been fortified further with black metal tubing around the front grill and the front windshield to spare damage from driving into and over the undead when necessary. The top has been fitted with more metal tubing to allow for securing supplies with a ladder from an RV affixed to the side.
The ambulance had no more armor because while it would be useful to slap as much metal on the body of the vehicle as you could for protection it would greatly weigh the vehicle down, greatly reducing it's range and mileage per gallon, putting you on the hunt for fuel for the vehicle more then anything else after it is done eating through the supply of fuel they brought with them. This is even taking into consideration that it runs in diesel fuel.
The rear of the vehicle has been outfitted with the means to go on longer distance excursions outside the walls of the community with enough supplies to get there and back. The locking mechanisms for the stretcher have been removed and in their place is a mattress for sleeping. The bench seating has also been converted into a mattress. The elongated storage beneath the bench seating, secured with a padlock, is where the guns and ammo are stored.
All of the medical supplies are stored in cabinets along the inside left. The cabinets near the front are for storing food. The outside cabinets are for storing tools and other equipment for working on the vehicle or changing a tire. It is for storing a chainsaw, bolt cutters and other supplies. The top of the ambulance is used for storing fuel and other such supplies as well as carrying any new supplies home. The ambulance is also fitted with a trailer hitch where it once did not have one.
